DTI reminds consumers to know their rights as holiday season approaches

IN PHOTO | The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Caraga has once again convened the members and partner agencies of the Consumer Protection Network (Consumer Net) for a meeting on September 1, 2026 in Butuan City.

DTI Caraga Regional Director Gay A. Tidalgo opened the activity with a message, reminding the Consumer Net members and partners of the importance of their individual roles in upholding consumer welfare.
"Regardless of our status in society, all of us are consumers. As such, we must take the time to explore our rights and responsibilities as consumers ourselves," said Tidalgo.
She also highlighted DTI's dual function: empowering local businesses while ensuring their compliance with fair trade laws to provide consumers with the quality products and services they are due. "In DTI, we welcome consumer complaints because it shows that consumers are becoming more aware of their rights and are exercising them," she added. (NJGD, PIA Caraga)
