MOA Signing on Approved Mancono Wood Recovery Permit

IN PHOTOS | Key stakeholders formalized a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the approved mancono wood recovery permit on March 25, 2026, held in Lianga, Surigao del Sur. 

The agreement was entered into by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), provincial government of Surigao del Sur, local government units (LGUs) of San Agustin and Lianga, and partner groups including the tribes of Davisol Christe in the Far East (formerly PDC), SAMMILIA Federation of People's Forest Development Cooperative, and Organization of Fisherfolks of Gata, Inc..

The activity was witnessed by Surigao del Sur 1st District Congressional Representative Romeo S. Momo, highlighting national and local government support for responsible resource utilization and community-based forest management. 

Leading the signing ceremony were DENR Regional Executive Director Maritess Ocampo and Provincial Vice Governor Manuel Alameda, together with officials from the participating cooperatives and people’s organizations.

The approved permit supports the regulated recovery and utilization of sunken and naturally damaged mancono logs in the municipalities of San Agustin and Lianga, promoting sustainable resource management while providing livelihood opportunities to local communities. (NGPB, PIA Surigao del Sur)
