IN PHOTO | The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Surigao del Norte is actively protecting Surigaonons, especially during the peak holiday rush. 

Its weekly price monitoring on basic necessities and prime commodities in Surigao City ensures that the Christmas spirit isn't dampened by unfair pricing or empty shelves. 

The DTI-Surigao del Norte's focus covers three main categories to ensure broad consumer protection:

​1. Basic Necessities: Rice, canned sardines, processed milk, coffee, bread, instant noodles, and salt; 2. Prime Commodities: Canned meat (luncheon meat, corned beef), condiments (vinegar, soy sauce), and even non-food items like detergent and batteries; and 3. Noche Buena items: Seasonal staples like ham, queso de bola, fruit cocktail, pasta/spaghetti, tomato sauce, and all-purpose cream. The official 2025 Noche Buena Price Guide was released nationwide to help families plan their budgets.
