GSIS, Surigao CSWDO bring holiday cheer to indigenous children
IN PHOTO | Indigenous children from the Mamanwa and Sama-Bajau communities gather at the City Cultural Centre today, December 19, 2025, for a special outreach program organised by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Surigao Branch and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
The activity, under the Gender and Development (GAD) initiative, provides support and holiday cheer to 135 young beneficiaries. Each child receives Noche Buena packs, ice cream treat, and a shared lunch. Beyond the gift-giving, the children participate in interactive games designed to encourage teamwork and social interaction.
This partnership underscores the Surigao City government’s commitment to child-centred and inclusive programs. By focusing on the needs of indigenous youth, the child-centred approach promotes equal opportunities and compassionate service for all sectors of the community.
Through these regular collaborations with stakeholders, Surigao City and GSIS Surigao Branch remain dedicated to fostering a community where every child is supported and included in the city's progress. (SDR, PIA Surigao del Norte)
