Magroyong Council Chairperson Shares Journey To Sustaining a Drug-Free Barangay

IN PHOTO | During the Panagtigum sa Barangay, a grassroots forum for a drug-free community, held on September 23, 2025 at the Magroyong gymnasium in San Miguel, Surigao del Sur, Punong Barangay Cynthia Aporbo shared the challenges the community faced to achieving a drug-free barangay from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). 

She recalled the collective sacrifices and determination of both the council and residents to be drug-cleared.

Aporbo reminded the community that being declared drug-free is not the end of their work. “Bisan na drug-free barangay kami, dako pa gihapon ang amo responsibilidad kay dili ni basta-basta,” she said, stressing the importance of vigilance and continuous commitment. 

Her message stood as both a celebration of Magroyong’s milestone and a call to action, especially for the youth to help protect their community from the threats of illegal drugs. (NGPB, PIA Surigao del Sur)
