Groundbreaking for the improvement and expansion of the Siargao Airport Passenger Terminal Building

IN PHOTOS | Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon and Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco led the ceremonial groundbreaking for the improvement and expansion of the Siargao Airport Passenger Terminal Building on August 8, 2025, a project aimed to significantly enhance travel experience and bolster tourism in the country’s surfing capital.

The expansion project, a key initiative under the Marcos administration's infrastructure and tourism development plan, will increase the airport's pre-departure seating capacity from its current 200 to 750 passengers. The modernization includes the addition of six new check-in counters and a new and improved passenger terminal building designed to address congestion and provide greater comfort and convenience for both local and international tourists.
