Troops as Fact-check Officers
IN PHOTOS | The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Assistant Regional Head Renelle Luzon Escuadro, as resource speaker, highlighted the pivotal role of the soldiers in information literacy in the grassroots communities, during the Mobile Community Support Sustainment Team (MCSST) Refresher’s Training of the 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade, held at Camp Romualdo C. Rubi, Brgy. Bancasi, Butuan City on January 28, 2025.
ARH Escuadro said “You are not only soldiers, you are also fact-check officers. So it is essential that the information that we bring and deliver to the barangays and communities is not misinformation, disinformation and mal-information.”
She also encouraged the personnel and officers from the brigade’s line units – the 23rd Infantry Battalion, 28th Infantry Battalion, and 58th Infantry Battalion, along with the 4th Civil Military Operations (CMO) Battalion representatives, to use development communication in their communication output and community engagements.
