Meet the inventor of Caraga State U‘s starch extracting machine

Bocobo, center director of Center of Resource Assessment, Analytics And Emerging Technologies (CREATE) in Caraga State University, in his interview, shared to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga Assistant Regional Head Renelle Luzon Escuadro the invention of the machine that can efficiently extract starch from the inner part of the lumbia tree.
According to Engr. Bacobo, “The machine can extract 400 kilos of starch per hour compared to the strenuous manual process that would take 3-5 days.”
The machine, known as ‘Sago Pith Extracting Device” is now on pilot testing to three livelihood associations namely, Kabaang Livelihood Association in Baan Km. 3, Butuan City, Municipal Agriculturist Office of Esperanza, Agusan Del Sur and the Julitanhon Integrated Farmers Association in Julita, Leyte.
