IN PHOTOS | The Butuan Boat Archaeological Project Team, with representatives from the provincial government of Agusan del Norte, city government of Butuan City, and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga, convened on August 13, 2024 for an exit conference for Phase 1 of the Butuan Boat Archaeological Project situation at the back of Toyota in Brgy. Libertad, Butuan City.

Curator and archaeologist Bobby Orillaneda of National Museum's Maritime and Underwater Cultural Heritage Division (MUCHD), revealed that the site of the 1st phase of the project involves the Butuan Boat #4 and #9 excavation sites.

"With this project, we hope to continue the archaeological excavations of Butuan #9 following the 2013 excavation activity. We will also assess and document the current condition and or degradation status of the remaining Butuan Boats, as well as further examine the boat's construction technology, and conduct further historical and archaeological research," said Orillaneda.
