IN PHOTO | “Child marriage is prohibited by law. A tribal wedding between two children, or between a child and an adult, is unlawful. Anyone who facilitates such marriages, including government personnel, may face termination from service and imprisonment," said Juna Reah Cabingas, administrative officer III of the Agusan del Sur Provincial Legal Office (PLO), during the 'Panagtigum sa Barangay' on November 25, 2025 in Barangay Halapitan, La Paz, Agusan del Sur.

Cabingas highlighted that parents who force or allow their children to marry may also face perpetual loss of parental authority. Judges, priests, pastors, or any person who officiates a child marriage are likewise held liable under the law. (NJGD/PIA Caraga)
