First dairy box in Surigao City
IN PHOTO | Surigaonon now have their own local milk and other dairy products after the formal opening of the first Dairy Box in Surigao City—a one-stop shop for products from carabao's milk on August 27, 2025, at Purok 5 in Brgy. Trinidad, Surigao City.
The new facility was also blessed and formally turned over to the Trinidad Sustainable Livelihood Program Association (SLPA) through the collaboration between the city government, Philippine Carabao Center, Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), and the City Veterinary Office.
The Dairy Box is also a project of the Philippine Carabao Center at Central Mindanao University in Bukidnon which was established to help local farmers strengthen the dairy industry. Through the Dairy Box, it is now easier for people to buy fresh carabao milk and other products while directly supporting the farmers who make them.
They offer a variety of local products such as Pastillas, Fresh Milk, Flavored Milk, Frozen Yogurt, and White Cheese, which are made directly from carabao's milk and produced right there at the Dairy Box.
The symbolic key was personally received by Trinidad Punong Barangay Josie Pecho and Trinidad SLPA President Elsie Cayangcang. (SDR, PIA Surigao del Norte)
