PNP Backs COMELEC’s Fight Against Disinformation, Legal Action Looms for Culprits

IN PHOTO | In a firm show of commitment to democratic values, the Philippine National Police (PNP) expressed its full support behind the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in addressing the rising threat of disinformation that endangers the integrity of the May 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE).

During a press conference on April 21, 2025 in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Director Harry Domingo, made a strong statement against the spread of false election-related information online. He emphasized the active role of the PNP in safeguarding not only the security of the elections but also the truth that shaped public trust.

The PNP according to Dir. Domingo will continue to support COMELEC in ensuring the integrity of the upcoming May 2025 NLE, saying that they are actively investigating the source of the misleading post. (NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
