During today's RTF-ELCAC Cluster Conference cum Integration and Convergence of Related Clusters held at Balanghai Hotel, Butuan City, Estella Vallespin, LGOO-II of DILG-Caraga presented the ongoing efforts of the Strategic Communications Cluster chaired by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga in the fight against insugency. She emphasized that PIA, as the lead agency has been very active in disseminating timely, accurate and relevant information to the public with the use of their known platforms. "The lead agency has also established good partnership with the LGUs in the region, particularly the information officers who also perform the same as support to PIA. All the member agencies of the StratComm are continuously working together and mainstream its efforts to come up with good results," she underscored.



Annabel Yangson of DILG-Caraga reminded all the members of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) to continue to work as one towards achieving the identified line of efforts of all the clusters. She further bared that the ways forward of the task force include the following: 1) Review ELCAC organization; 2) Alignment of NGA programs and projects to priority barangays; 3) Institutionalize the RCSP through enabling laws and policies; 4) Jumpstart partnerships to engage youth, CSOs, and business sector; 5) Mainstream the Lakbay ng Kapayapaan Roadmap for peace and development.




During this time of the pandemic, DILG-Caraga regional director Lilibeth Famacion underscored that the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) thru the Strategic Communications Cluster is coming up with new strategies on how to better reach out to the people in the remote barangays and increase their awareness on the government's efforts and initiatives in addressing not only insurgency but also other issues and concerns in their area. "Where social media is not feasible in the remote areas, we should be able to find ways to reach out to the locals and deliver relevant information, as well as the programs and services of our government agencies for them," she said.
