The DSWD Field Office Caraga continues its packing of Family Food Packs (FFPs) at the DPWH Tiniwisan Warehouse, Butuan City. This is in preparation for the relief augmentation for the affected families of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak. As of March 23, more than 2000 FFPs are being packaged in this designated area in Caraga region. DSWD is ensuring the health and safety of its volunteers and personnel in the packing process during this time of public health emergency. In addition, the Department is continuously looking into different modes of providing social services without compromising public health and safety to the people of Caraga. The personnel of Talacogon Fire Station headed, in collaboration with the PNP, AFP and other health workers, continue to implement strict health protocols to the individuals coming in the area at the checkpoint in Brgy. At the barangay level, precautionary measures are being implemented to avert the risk of getting infected with the #COVID19. Brgy. Bayanihan in Butuan City, for instance, has refused bookings for the use of the barangay covered court; ordered the suspension of all activities and gatherings in the area.
Punong barangay Wilo Montero said they implemented an enhanced operation of the barangay 'tanods' and conducted recoridas to remind the public about the curfew and guidelines on community quarantine.
Upon entering also at the barangay hall, a table is set up where the community midwife is designated to initially screen the clients. Medicines are also provided for those who sought the kind of assistance.
"We are at a critical point of addressing this COVID-19 pandemic. Everyone's cooperation is really vital. Let us get involved in solving this global dilemma by simply following the health protocols and guidelines imposed by the government," stressed Montero.
