As an endeavor in keeping the people to be well-acquainted on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its socio-economic impacts, Caraganons from all levels of society gather together for the ‘ASEAN Multi-Sectoral Forum’ held on April 11, 2017 at the Function Hall of Watergate Hotel in Butuan City. According to Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga regional director Abner Caga, the ASEAN Multi-Sectoral Forum held in Butuan City on April 11, 2017 aims to drum up support to Philippines’ chairmanship of the ASEAN this year. PIA, as the government’s information arm, wants to share how the Filipino can keep advantage from being citizens of an ASEAN member country, he said. (PIA Caraga)


During the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Multi-Sectoral Forum held in Butuan City on April 11, 2017, Philippine Information Agency deputy director general Gelo Villar emphasizes that the public has the commitment of the agency to build a change in mindset of the citizenry to achieve real change and that is making every Filipino a part of the community governed by its people. With ASEAN, promising progress and benefits await for all and that include employment opportunities in ASEAN member countries, better way of protecting migrant workers, protection of territories, among others, says Villar.
