Some 1,000 lumads,
muslims, Christians, barangay officials, LGU representatives, academe,
employees from government offices and private sectors of Caraga region attended
the joint 10th Caraga Conference for Peace and Development (CCPD) anniversary
celebration, Mindanao Week of Peace culmination program, launching of the MASA
MASID Program, and awarding ceremony of the Movie for Peace at Balanghai Hotel
and Convention Center, Butuan City on December 1, 2016. (PIA Caraga)
Rev. Fr. Carlito Clase,
executive director of Caraga Conference for Peace and Development (CCPD)
emphasizes during the Joint 10th CCPD Anniversary celebration and Mindanao Week
of Peace (MWOP) culmination program in Butuan City on December 1, 2016 that the
Indigenous Peoples in the region are now empowered and have been actively
participating in the government's activities that contribute greatly to
nation-building. He also called on everyone to protect and respect life
including the environment which give life to people from its rich resources. (PIA Caraga)
During the culmination
of the Mindanao Week of Peace celebration and 10th anniversary of Caraga
Conference for Peace and Development (CCPD) held in Butuan City on December 1,
2016, Col Cristobal Zaragoza, commander of the 401st brigade, 4th
Infantry Division (4ID) Philippine Army representing 4ID commander MGen
Benjamin Madrigal, Jr. underscored that the CCPD has been working for years to
help the government along with other sectors to achieve genuine peace and
development not only for Caraga but in Mindanao as a whole. He added that series
of activities were conducted to intensify peace efforts & campaign that
also helped the people in various communities. (PIA Caraga)
Butuan Bishop Most Rev.
Juan de Dios Pueblos expresses his appreciation to all the participating
sectors from the different provinces of the region, and encourages everyone to
constantly take their part in achieving sustainable peace efforts in their
respective communities during the
culminating activity of the Mindanao Week of Peace celebration held in Butuan

During the culminating
activity of the Mindanao Week of Peace celebration held in Butuan City on
December 1, 2016, participants and guests from various sectors witness the
entries for the Caraga Movie for Peace entitled "Bayuy",
"Bana", "Tuktok", "Pangandoy", "Iktad",
and "Yutang Pinalangga." These short movie entries are directed and
produced by students from the different colleges/universities in Caraga region. (PIA Caraga)
The St. Francis Xavier
College of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur grabbed the 1st and 2nd place awards for
the Movie for Peace Contest and received a cash prize of P35,000.00 (1st place)
and P20,000.00 (2nd place), a total of P55,000.00 with plaque of recognition
during the Joint 10th CCPD Anniversary celebration, Mindanao Week of Peace
(MWOP) culmination program, launching of the MASA MASID Program, and Awarding
ceremony of the Movie for Peace in Butuan City on December 1, 2016. The said
institution directed and produced two entries entitled "Iktad" (1st
place) and followed by "Bana" (2nd place). (PIA Caraga)
