 Filipino Seafarers' Day Celebration

Maritime Industry Authority Regional Office-13 regional director Engr. Emmanuel Carpio in an interview during the Filipino Seafarers’ Day celebration in Butuan City on June 25, 2016 said that Filipino Seafarers’ Day Celebration is declared under Presidential Proclamation No. 183, giving respect to the seafarers who are working overseas and have great contribution in the boost of our economy. Overseas seafarer Luis Salarda, reveals in an interview during the Filipino Seafarers’ Day celebration in Butuan City on June 25, 2016, that other than his love for ships and seas he is also inclined of such kind of employment in order to support his family by providing the best education for his children and helping uplift the status of their life. Edrian John Simeon, a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation student, said during the Filipino Seafarers’ Day celebration in Butuan City on June 25, 2016 that he was truly inspired by his father to pursue in getting the course. Simeon also said that he is driven by his interest with naval ships and that will open on opportunity for him to travel the world through water vessels for free. (PIA-Caraga)

BALIK BUTUAN

  The participants of today's Balik Butuan Tour spearheaded by the local government of Butuan through the City Tourism Office, visited the PAQAOA which stands for Peace and Quite and Open Air, located in Barangay Bit-os, Butuan City, just along the Agusan River. This is the residence of former Ambassador of the Philippines to United Arab Emirates (UAE), Roy Señeres. Accordingly, the family will soon accept visitors and guests through appointments. Renovation of the entire place is ongoing.

  To equip the enlisted privates of the 4th Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Battalion (4CMOBn), Philippine Army with the right knowledge and skills in basic journalism, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga, facilitated the conduct of training on basic news writing and photo journalism to some 30 participants at the 4CMOBn Conference Room in Brgy. Bancasi, Butuan City.  As the resource speaker on basic news writing, Jennifer Gaitano, Information Officer III of PIA Caraga, discussed the important elements to consider when writing a news story.
